i can twist out lines for every situation.
The sun was shining, it was a beautiful day. You could hear the gentle lapping of the water against the boat. Everyone was out, soaking up the rays of sunshine, perfecting their already bronze tans. It was the perfect summer day, everyone was enjoying it. Carly hated it. Absolutely hated it. Now, she wasn't usually a morbid person, but the sunshine was really getting on her nerves. It was so... constant and direct. She wasn't used to all the sunshine. She was from New York, not California. Carly was sick of having to wear sunglasses all the time - she was getting little marks on her nose from the bridge of them. It was driving her absolutely nuts.
Which is why Carly had taken refuge in the lounge on this sunny afternoon: the sun exposure was considerably less, plus the over powering smell of salt wasn't there to bother her. Plus, it was really nice in the Casablanca lounge. The decorations were classy, the couches were elegant - and comfortable, which was always the plus. Her mother had a bunch of elegant couches in their home, but they weren't very comfortable. Plus, they weren't even allowed to sit on them. It was absolutely freakin' ridiculous, but it wasn't an uncommon thing in their social circle.
Nobody was telling her not to sit on these elegant couches, though, so that was exactly what she was doing. She had kicked off her flip flops off, leaving them abandoned in the middle of the room and she settled into a settee and crossed her legs. Her iPod was plugged into her ears (as she had actually remembered to stick it in her pocket when she left her cabin this morning) and a book was open in her lap - Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. Most teenage girls had read the vampire novel about the "vegetarian" vampires, and Carly was just jumping on the bandwagon.
So far though, Carly wasn't impressed with the book. The main character was annoying and Edward was completely unrealistic. It was books like these that made women lose faith in the male race. It was also making Carly a little cranky - she wanted a guy as ridiculously sweet as the vegetarian vampire! Sighing heavily, she slammed the paper back book shut and dropped it onto the seat beside her. Reading this summer had so far been a disappointment. Brushing her bangs out of her face, Carly stretched out, spreading her body out across the settee. Now that was comfort.
A yawn slipped passed Carly's lips. Right now would be a good time for a nap. She thought to herself, tugging on the cuffs of her cut-off shorts. But falling asleep in a public place would be embarrassing, she reminded herself. Even so, her eyes fell shut and she started drifting off...
