Cash tried to reassure himself that there were no ghosts down in the boiler room. Though the stories he'd heard from his co-workers were replaying over and over in his head as she walked towards the entrance to the boiler room that was on the deck. The only thing that was really motivating him to go was this one girl..and boredom. He was curiously to meet this Carly girl and it was so much better than sitting around his cabin being bored out of his mind.
Dressed in a khaki long sleeve shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to quarter-length, he had on just regular ratty jeans. Nothing too fancy, besides they'd be down in the boiler room, which meant it would be a little warmer than up on deck. Looking around the deck, he was sure how he would tell what this girl looked like. But he had told her what he was wearing so he figured she'd be able to tell him apart from everyone else on deck.
Just think of it as an...adventure... he thought to himself as he tried to block out all the stories he remembered his friends telling him. He'd even heard of how some of the ghosts came to be. Like Door 13 in the boiler room, that was one place he was planning on steering clear from, that whole story of how two men were crushed by the door and then there was another death later..yeah..he wasn't going anywhere near that place.

As Carly signed off of the instant messenger, she couldn't deny that she was intrigued by the boy called Cash. First of all, there was his name. It seemed to be such a random thing to be named. It also made her wonder what his brother's were named, as he had said that his parents wanted original names for them as well. If they were anywhere as original as Cash, Carly would be quite delighted. She personally thought her name was lame and planned on giving her own kids unique names. Her first son was going to be named Ludwig, with the middle name von Beethoven. She was determined, even if her mother threatened to disown her if she actually went through with it.
A few minutes after she signed off, Carly exited her cabin, slipping the key into the front pocket of her jean cut-offs. She stood in the hallway for a moment, glancing from side to side to determine which was to go. A moment passed and she took off to her left, her Converse low-tops padding lightly against the carpeting. Soon enough, she was stepping out onto the sunshine of the deck, one hand going up to shield her eyes from such sun. She paused again at the door, pushing the sleeves of her grey striped long sleeve up to her elbows. Hesitating for a moment, Carly stopped one of the passing passengers which way it was to the boiler room. She knew the basics of the ship, like where her cabin was and where she could go to get food, but other than that... Carly didn't really care.
Armed with the right directions, Carly headed towards the boiler room, keeping an eye out for a guy wearing a khaki shirt and jeans. Not that there were a bunch of people that could probably fit that description. Stopping at the wall near the entrance to the boiler room, Carly cocked a hip out, placing her hand gently on it. Eyes were narrowed as she surveyed the people around her, trying to pick out the one that could be Cash.
And then she spotted him. The khaki shirt and jeans, with the same kind of shaggy hair style she recognized from his display picture when they talked online. Approaching him, a sly smile spread across her features. "Cash?" She asked him, just to make sure that it actually was him and not some random person who just happened to be wearing a khaki shirt and jeans.
[ooc|| That was kind of crap, sorry. xD]

He was excited about this little exploration in a way. First he'd be exploring a place he hadn't been before, and second he'd meet somebody new. He always liked meeting somebody new, especially if it was a girl. She seemed pretty nice from what he could tell, plus she liked his name and that was always fun. Cash enjoyed his name a lot, it made people remember him more. Plus it was pretty amusing for anybody calling out his name to pause for a moment and then ask 'Cash?' or if they'd pause he'd just say 'Here!' just because he could guess it was the pause that meant his name. His brothers names were a little less original than his, but he kind of envied them. Sure they had less original names but that meant less confusion. He'd always told his parents he was going to name his kids weird names than his, like Kidd Danger, or something like that. Of course his mother had gone on the whole 'Your poor kids!' lecture, but then he just reminded her of his own name.
He knew too much about the ship, even though he hadn't been working here too long, he still knew the places not to go and such. Anywhere that was supposedly haunted he usually steered clear from them. Was he superstitious? It was a hard question to answer. On one hand he enjoyed Ouji boards and fortune tellers, but still he was a bit afraid of the whole ghosts and stuff like that. Everyone said it wasn't true, but he couldn't help but think about what if it was true. He had no idea what he'd do if he encounter anything strange like a ghost.
Seeing the girl approach him, he could guess that was her from her display picture. Smiling his oh so charming smile, he nodded and asked,"Carly?" He had to be sure, just in case. Then he asked,"You ready to go exploring?" He was still a bit nervous but he was trying to forget about what could be down there. Plus, he didn't want to lose his cool attitude when there was a pretty girl around. That just wouldn't be good at all. He didn't mind freaking out about things when he was with his family or something, but if it was a girl than yeah, he'd do his best to be as calm and collected as possible.
[ooc. its alright, mine is pretty bad]

{ carly mcelroy } - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'cause if you jump i will jump too. Carly grinned, nodding. "In the flesh." She answered, folding her arms over her chest. Casually, she let her eyes travel over Cash. He was cute enough. Okay, that was a bit of a lie: he was just plain cute. Smiling, Carly shrugged. "As ready as I'll ever be." She replied with a roll of her eyes, a cheesy grin still plastered across her face. Calm, cool and collected was what Carly was all about. Even though that wasn't necessarily true, the girl was rarely calm. Normally, she was bouncing off the walls. The cool and collected comment could also be argued, but we'll leave that for another time, another place.
Pulling her eyes from Cash, Carly surveyed the door they were planning on entering. It looked like a normal door, nothing scary about it. "So is this one of those... enter at your risk kind of things?" She asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. She'd meant what she said about thinking that this haunted ship bullshit was all hype created by the cruise line owner just to get more people on the ship, but she couldn't really say that she didn't believe in ghosts. That was an odd topic for her. When she was eight she had herself convinced that she had had a ghostly encounter, but now she was sure that was all in her head. That eight year old brain had morphed into a sixteen year old and the sixteen year old brain had trouble believing that there could possibly be some kind of... life after death. It just didn't make sense.
Pushing that thought out of her mind, Carly stepped around Cash to grab the door handle. She stopped before she opened it and turned to face the boy. "I'm warning you now, you try and weird ass crap down there, I will personally... get my big brother to kick your scrawny little behind. Comprendo?" Without waiting for a response from him, Carly turned back to the door and yanked on it with all her might, pulling the heavy door open. This was going to be fun, yeah?

He couldn't help but subtly look her over, she was cuter in person. But once again the whole idea of employee flirting with passenger came into his mind. He knew he could probably get in trouble for it, but so far it hadn't stopped him. "Sweet, let the exploring begin." He grinned, hopefully this would be fun. He wasn't sure how much fun he'd be having, but he hoped she would have some fun. Even if she didn't believe in ghosts or if she did, hopefully they could just not be bored for a bit. After all, just walking around and seeing a new place was pretty fun in his opinion, especially when there was somebody else with you to experience it with you.
"Yeah basically. But that's just something they probably say to scare people..." He tried to seem cool about it, though the thought of it was a bit creepy. Some of the ghost tours occurred down here, it was supposedly the most haunted spot. But he was really trying to think of other things. Thinking happy thoughts was a good way to approach this..though what thoughts were happy? Um..being scared in front of a pretty girl, uh...seeing a ghost...okay not happy at all. Okay that was a bad idea. He wasn't sure what to think of ghosts and stuff like that. There were so many shows on the T.V. about ghost spottings and stuff, most of them were pretty chill but there were some cases where he got really creeped out just by thinking of them. He'd been to some creepy places when he was younger, and that was good enough for him. Just thinking of those old times when he'd been to Hotel California, which was a haunted old mental hospital, yeah...he never wanted to go back to a haunted place again. But here he was, about to go into an infamous haunted area of the ship.
"Me do anything?! Psh I'd never do anything." Okay he might try and scare but he didn't know her well enough to do anything to extremely scary. "And I am hardly scrawny." He followed her inside, the door shutting loudly behind him. Jumping slightly at the sound, okay this was going to be fun. He was already jumping and they weren't even on their way to exploring yet.

{ carly mcelroy } - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'cause if you jump i will jump too. "Woo-hoo." Although Carly wouldn't admit it, she was pretty happy to be here, getting ready to explore the "haunted" boiler room with someone. Since they'd boarded, Carly hadn't spent much time with anyone other than her family, which was about as lame as it sounded. Marcus was fun to be around sometimes, but most of their time spent together was spent arguing and physically abusing each other. More than half the bruises Carly had were thanks to roughhousing with her brother when they got pissed at each other. They were each other's punching bag. It was just the way things were.
"Most likely." She replied, brushing her bangs out of her face. "So, these ghost stories that everyone's talking about... have you actually heard any of them?" As of yet, Carly hadn't really. She'd heard bits of them, like something about kids and nurseries, but she'd always been too pre-occupied with something else when the stories passed by her ears. Plus, she usually had to be told things more than once from them to be able to sink in properly. Carly was fairly thick-headed, and pretty stubborn when she wanted to be. She liked to do things on her own time. One of her greatest pet peeves was being told what to do and when to do it, or being rushed to do something.
The girl chuckled, shaking her head slightly. "That's the kind of stuff we're told not to listen to. As girls, we're supposed to keep our wits about us. Because apparently everyone with a penis is out to get us." It was true. At one point she had a nanny who was completely terrified of what men would do to woman. In truth, her mother would probably kill her if she knew she was with some random guy she'd met online, even if it was on the cruise chat line. Chuckling to herself, Carly folded her arm over her chest. "You are compared to my brother." She answered with a wicked grin. "His arm is probably as thick as your neck. He's ripped, man." That was a bit of an exaggeration - Marcus was ripped, just not that ripped. Cash jumped, and Carly giggled. "Want me to call him up right now? You seem like you might need a little protection." She teased playfully, tugging on her sweater. Suddenly, she wished she'd worn a t-shirt instead. It was kind of... warm down here without the sea breeze to cool them.

It was rare that Cash ever spent time with his buddies just hanging out. Most of the time one or the other was going to work or at work and had a moment to spare. It was a really fast paced job for most of his friends. Being a musician he had loads of time to spare since he sang at the club. He had a whole schedule of when he was doing his next set and stuff like that. So most of the time when he wasn't working he was bored out of his mind. Being out with somebody new was pretty exciting for him, it sounded like a fun day ahead of them.
"They have a whole ghost tour thing, but its much better to come down here without a whole group of people." He shrugged, well at least in his opinion it was. He thought he was more likely to see anything with just two people here. After all what ghost would appear if there were dozens of people standing around being loud and taking pictures?! "Yeah I've heard a few, most of my friends are smart enough not to come down here. A lot of them have seen ghosts around the pool area and stuff like that. But there's been some stuff about the boiler room too, but that's only stuff I've heard from random people." His friend had once told him about a ghost by the elevators, but Cash had gone to the elevators dozens of times and had never seen anything, so he was still a bit skeptical of that.
"Well trust me, I'm not out to get you. Besides trying to get a girl in the boiler room..yeah..doesn't sound too pleasant. Hardly romantic at all." Okay maybe like the Titanic version of Jack and Rose running through the boiler room and being all happy. But a haunted boiler room where three people died from being crushed by Door 13...yeah not something he wanted to have in his head while he was trying to get a girl. Listening to her talk about her brother, well...okay maybe he wasn't the toughest guy out there. Compared to his brothers he was the strongest one. "Pssh it was nothing, just didn't think it would shut that fast..that's all." He shrugged and tried to play it off like he meant to jump or something like that. It was complete bullshit, but whatever.

{ carly mcelroy } - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'cause if you jump i will jump too. Carly nodded. They were selling the ghost ship thing pretty hard. Of course, thinking the words ghost ship had her train of though switching to a different track. Now all she could think about was that stupid movie with the same title that had scared the wits out of her when she was about ten. She shivered, pulling the sleeves of her shirt back down to cover her arms. That haunting image of that dance scene where the little girl was the only one not killed had kept her awake at night for a month. She forced a smile, looking up at Cash. "Want to tell me one of them?" She asked. Anything to get her mind off of that stupid movie, even if it was another ghost story that would scare the pants off of her. Chances were she'd probably have trouble getting to sleep later tonight, which meant for a cranky day tomorrow, but Carly felt that was kind of worth it. At least she was able to hang out with someone relatively close to her age for awhile.
Carly laughed, nodding her agreement. "Not romantic at all." While Cash associated boiler rooms and the Titanic with a happy scene, Carly associated it with a sad one - when Jack and Rose were making out in that car and the dude came and handcuffed Jack to the wall when the ship was sinking. Even though it technically wasn't the boiler room they were in, it was still embedded into her mind. She nodded blankly at his excuse, glancing back at the door. "It's not one of those doors that get stuck when you try to open it from the inside, is it?" Carly asked, panic rising in her chest. Getting trapped in the boiler room definitely wasn't something that she would enjoy. If anyone enjoyed that, they'd have to be incredibly twisted. And although Carly was a little odd, she was far from incredibly twisted.
Tearing her eyes away from the door, figuring they'd have to deal with that problem if it actually arose. Even if it did, she had her cell phone, right? Needing reassurance of this fact, Carly reached for her pocket, only to find that her phone wasn't there. The girl could have smacked herself for forgetting to grab her phone, her baby, out of her purse before she left her cabin. Dxmn everything. Another sigh and she looked up at Cash. She couldn't figure out why she was worrying, there wasn't going to be any problem. There were no ghosts, and if the door did stick, it was the boiler room - people had to come down here to check on it so the ship would go all whacky and end up like the Titanic without the iceberg. Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, Carly laughed. She really was being paranoid.
Grinning up at Cash, she outstretched her arms in both directions. "Where to now, Cash Monaayyy?"

A lot had happened on this ship, he didn't know the number of how many people had died on the ship but he knew it was a lot. It was a bit creepy to be around certain places sometimes. But for the most part he didn't really think of the ship as a ghost ship. Then again, he'd never witnessed a ghost so far. "Uh.. sure." Trying to think of one of them, he finally said,"Okay so my friend was down here checking all the boiler rooms and making sure everything was right. And he kept on hearing things like water rushing, but there was no water anywhere. So he kept on looking and he thought he heard somebody. But after a few minutes it went away." He shrugged and added,"He says he thinks its from when the ship hit some submarine during World War II when like three hundred people were killed or something. Apparently where he was was where the ship had hit the submarine." It was pretty creepy to him, he didn't think he'd want to hear the water rushing from nowhere and the screams of people who were panicking to get out of that ship's compartment. How creepy would that be, however he found the stories of Door 13 to be more gruesome than any of the other stories he'd heard.
How anybody could think of this place as romantic he had no idea. It was just too dark and warm to be comfortable. Plus the thoughts of ghosts and where people had been crushed by the boiler room doors, something that would keep him as far away from this place as possible. Of course it was fun going down here just to have a good laugh and be a little scared just for fun, but he didn't ever want to be down here alone or during the middle of the night. Hearing her question, he looked over at the door and then shrugged,"I hope not. Don't worry about it, there's two other exits out of the boiler room around here." He didn't know where they were, he knew there was one that led to the F deck, but that was all he knew of."
Cash was trying to think of this experience in the most fun way. They wouldn't get stuck down here, hopefully. And if they did somebody would come down here eventually to check the boiler rooms so they were bound to run into somebody...or something. Cash had left his phone back in his room, he didn't think he'd need it while he was down here. He laughed as she said his name, a very nice way to say his name. Looking around the place, he noticed the stairs and motioned to them. "Down into the depths of the ship?" He walked towards the stairs and then looked over his shoulder to ask,"You want me to go first, or do you want to?"

{ carly mcelroy } - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'cause if you jump i will jump too. Carly listened with an amused smile as Cash told his story. First of all, it was hard to believe that this ship was around during World War II, not to mention people actually took cruises during that time. "Sounds absolutely frightening." She replied, sarcasm dripping from her voice. She flashed him a smile to show she was kidding. Mostly, she just found that story a little depressing. Three hundred people died down here? That thought made her want to turn around and take refuge in her cabin. She hated the thought of people being dead around her. It was part of the reason why Carly hated going to hospitals and got totally creeped out near cemeteries. It just felt wrong to her, like she was disturbing something she wasn't supposed to disturb.
The panic subsided as Cash informed her there were other exits. Alright, that was all good. There were multiple ways for them to get out of there was relaxing. "Good, I don't want to get stuck down here. That would be a crappy way to spend the day." Plus, she'd probably have a panic attack or two if she was stuck in the dank boiler room and hear all the clanking and whatever that usually happened in such rooms. Plus, it was like... unbearably sticky down here. Carly shifter irritably, running her finger over the hem of her shirt for a moment. Glancing casually up at Cash, she nibbled on her bottom lip. And then she crossed her arms in front of her, pulling her shirt over her head, revealing the white tank top she was wearing a camisole. Quickly, she tied the shirt around her waist, feeling much cooler.
"Dun, dun, dun!" Carly cried dramatically, waving her fingers mystically at Cash. Cheesy sound effects would definitely be Carly's forte during this little foray into the boiler room and she was guaranteeing that they would all fit together. Standing at the spot Cash left her at for a moment, Carly seemed to hesitate. She recovered quickly, the grin re-appearing as she sauntered towads Cash. "Age before beauty!" She chirped happily, skipping down the first couple of steps. "Even though that statement is totally backwards." Winking playfully at the boy, Carly continued to hop down the steps, stopping and standing awkardly at the bottom as she looked around her new surroundings. "Now which way?"

Cash had heard stories of how the Queen Mary had cut the submarine in half. It was creepy, he wasn't a fan of death at all. Just being in the same place where somebody had spent their last moment, ugh it was just odd. He'd heard so many stories but from what he'd heard that most of the ghosts pretty much ignored people. But still, there had been stories. "Not scared at all? Well then maybe we should go to Door 13 if you're so tough." He smirked, though after he said it he felt pretty stupid for saying it. He didn't want to go to Door 13, but no...he had suggested it.
"Yeah imagine having to spend the night down here. I'd hate that." Oh got that was horrible, that would be the worst night ever. Though he would be with a cute girl so that wouldn't be that bad. Glancing around the place, he wondered if they'd be hearing any knocks. Oh that would be creepy. If there was a ghost it would get cold..that wouldn't be good at all.
He laughed slightly at the suspenseful noise she made. He liked this girl, she could make a scary place quite fun to be in. She was just so cute, so playful. As she went down the stairs and was playful, he followed her down. Looking around as he went down the stairs he accidentally bumped into her and then said,"Sorry. Um..if you go straight..we'll eventually reach Door 13...unless you don't want to go down there...I think..." The whole area was a bit creepy, but he was so happy he wasn't alone. He didn't even think he'd be here if he wasn't with somebody else.

{ carly mcelroy } - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 'cause if you jump i will jump too. Carly returned the smirk, pulling her curls of her neck for a moment. "Not by that." She said with a laugh. "You've still got a couple more tries to scare the crap out of me." Giggling, she tilted her head to one side, a quizzical look on her face. "Door thirteen." Carly repeated, an eyebrow raising. "Sounds... not scary at all." She laughed, shaking her head slightly. Was nothing here given a scary name? It all seemed so... normal. Nothing you'd see in a horror movie. Which didn't really bother her, she preferred it that way. Scary movies were pretty low in Carly's books. She had an overactive imagination, which was never good after watching a scary movie because suddenly she was convinced whatever happend in the movie was going to happen to her. Carly was constantly darting up stairs, terrified there was some people-grabber was living under them and would eat her.
"I'd probably cry." Carly answered solemnly. Crying and panic attacks were a common thing if you've ever been in a stick situation with Carly. She had a tendency to over-react about just about everything. At one point, the year previously, Carly and two of her friends had gotten locked in one of the supply closets in her school. The door stuck, and as a result, they were too for a couple of hours. In those couple hours, Carly had one panic attack and sobbed many times about how they were going to run out of oxygen and die. The clincher was that all her carrying-on that got someone's attention and got them let out of the closet. "I don't do well in high stress situations."
Carly turned on her toe to look at Cash after he crashed into her. No biggie, she was the one to stop after all. She grinned, flicking some hair out of her eyes. "Hmm. I don't know. What's this 'door thirteen' all about?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. "Another crash into the ship? OOH! Or an earthquake that happened and the door caved in and crushed people?" Of course, the thought that an earthquake couldn't really effect water all that much didn't even come to mind. Grinning like an idiot, she held out her hand for Cash. "You're leading the way, my friend. Just don't let the ghosts eat my arms or something."

Hmm he'd have to think of another story to scare her with, something really good. The creepiest ones had to do with the bedrooms though, or the pool area. "It may not sound scary but a lot of people don't like going near it." Cash enjoyed most scary movies, he was a fan of the zombie movies mainly because they were completely fake and everyone knew it. Now something like Saw just amused him, mainly because he enjoyed scaring his friends after the movie. Anything that could be realistic and happen any day like Final Destination made him a bit paranoid for the next few days after watching the movie.
"You'd cry?" He didn't know what he'd do if he had to stay down there all night. On one hand he would be completely paranoid and stay awake all night, or he'd be completely paranoid and do anything he could to find a way out of that place. "I don't either." Yeah the last time he'd been to a haunted house, he was supposed to be thirteen to enter the London House of Horrors, but his older brother had lied about his age so they could all get in. Cash in a scary place wasn't good at all, just about the whole time he'd been trying to get back to the entrance while yelling 'I'm not thirteen! I'm not thirteen!' After that experience he figured a haunted house wasn't good for him. Plus any highly stressful situation made him curse more, like long strings of curse words that probably didn't fit together but he usually wasn't too worried about whether he was making sense or not.
Listening to her guess on what had happened, she did make the subject a bit lighter which he was thankful for. "Close to it, not the earthquake part though. Apparently one guy got caught in between Door 13, and two other people got crushed by it another time." Just the idea of being killed by a giant thick metal door made him a little creeped out. That much have been one incredibly painful death. no wonder why the ghosts down here were usually very active. He laughed and took her by the hand,"Don't worry I won't let the ghosts get you. Just remember the way we came in, it would suck to get lost down here."

She said with a grin. "Like the kind you see when people are having total meltdowns after watching something horrible happen." That basically summed up the majority of Carly's crying experiences. For the most part, she didn't cry often. Tears didn't come easily, but when they did, the came hard. And usually lasted awhile, unless something else came along and distracted her. Distractions were always good for Carly, it always helped her forget about the stuff that was bothering her easily. And distractions were easy for Carly. She had the attention span of a gnat.
An eyebrow and a hand raised at the same moment when Cash finished explaining door thirteen. "I vote we stay far away from that place!" Those were a couple of freak accidents right there. And when freak accidents happened more than once, they probably weren't so freaky anymore. "Good." Carly said with a grin, looking up at Cash. "Because it really would be a shame if I died down here. A real downer for the rest of the people on the cruise." Smiling cheerfully, Carly began swinging her hands in an over exaggerated motion as the too began walking.
"Okay, so I feel the need to clutter this up with pointless conversation. So I am proposing we play a little game." Carly looked up at him, smiling sweetly. "The game is Truth and it's simple, all you have to do is have the balls to tell the truth. Basically, we ask each other questions and you have to answer them. And if you don't, well... the game is over and it'll be boring again. What do you say?"

He laughed as he try to picture her crying like that. He'd never seen anybody cry like that besides in movies. "We won't get stuck in here..I mean...it might be better if we had a map or something but I guess its too late to turn back." Looking back the way they came in, he wondered if they should go back, but they'd already just begun so there was no point in going back. Besides it wasn't like they could get too incredibly lost down here hopefully. Cash tried not to think of that, he was glad she was here. She was a good distraction from not thinking of what could happen if they did get lost down here.
"Aw come on, are you afraid of the ghosts?" He said jokingly, well if she didn't want to go he had no problem not going. Nodding in agreement he said,"Yes it wouldn't be good if you died on board, being a ghost on this ship wouldn't be too pleasant." How horrible that would be, he didn't know too much about what apparently happened while haunting a place. But it just sounded horrible, being stuck in a place for eternity..not too fun. He laughed as she in an over exaggerated motion.
Listening to her as he stopped walking for a moment, he wondered where they should go next. They could go back up or head down more stairs towards the boilers or all the way down to close by the propellers. "Sounds like a fun game. Alright you start." He wondered what she'd be asking him, he was somewhat scared and yet he didn't think she'd ask him anything too personal, or would she?
